Companies have apparently been jumping on the Google + social network bandwagon lately in hopes of increasing their search engine rankings in Google.

This is an interesting video on how Google has progressed in the search engine field and their plans for the future.  It is important to see how universal search (images, video, etc.) are becoming increasingly significant part of the search engine results.  When doing search engine optimization, it is important to realize that not only is every individual page on your website ranked but also your videos, images, and content not even located on your own website. 

Well this is a little geekier of a blog post then I would usually do but I had to do this for a couple of new real estate sites that I have been developing lately so I thought I'd share it with those who are interested.  Basically if you don't have this .htaccess setup, you are hurting your search engine results.

Good for self evaluation purposes as there is no real SEO certificates out there. 

It's 75 questions.  Even if you don't do as well as you would like, they give you the answers at the end so you can educate yourself.

Just noticed tonight that the Page Rank for a few of our sites when up.  This site got pumped up to a PR 3 well our PEI real estate brokerage got up to PR 4.

Page Rank is an indicator of the quality and quantity of incoming links that are coming into your website.  The higher your PR the quicker your site will be indexed by Google when adding new content.

Well not the ultimate guage of success it's still nice to see. The Page Rank shown now is just a good reference because it is constantly changing but Google only updates the bar reader system every few months.

Google Has 63% Market Share In The U.S.

The number of searches performed by U.S. Web surfers on the five top search engines was at 11.75 billion searches. These 11.75 billion searches excludes searches users perform for mapping, local directory information or user-generated videos which is increasingly becoming more integral.  Google captured market share from Yahoo and Microsoft who seem to be struggling to catch up to the Google mammoth.

Real Estate And Online Marketing
