Google Extends Market Share Again

Google Has 63% Market Share In The U.S.
The number of searches performed by U.S. Web surfers on the five top search engines was at 11.75 billion searches. These 11.75 billion searches excludes searches users perform for mapping, local directory information or user-generated videos which is increasingly becoming more integral. Google captured market share from Yahoo and Microsoft who seem to be struggling to catch up to the Google mammoth.
International Google Stats
Google's international presence was also strong. In Britain, for instance, July's search figures showed Google holding a 75.3 per cent lead in the market, in Asia Google holds a 33 per cent share while Baidu.com holds 27.4 per cent (Comscore 2008).
Business Consequences
What this means is that you should be concentrating primarily on Google for your desired search engine results. It also means that other competitors have yet to be able to take over Google's turf. This can be a bad thing if Google gets too much market share, then you have the problem with them being able to charge more for their ads positioned beside the search results.
