Google Used As Bookmark

Another interesting article from the Globe and Mail about how Canadians use Google to "search" for sites when they already know the website address. Sites such as Facebook etc. where people would know the address they simply go to Google and type in the site name, where Google often suggests what you are looking for.
It seems that the ability for Google to anticipate what searcher are looking for has made it somewhat of a bookmarking platform while also being a broad search platform.
Does this just mean everyone is lazy or that Google is the internet gateway for everything.
I have seen many people not familiar with the internet type in web addresses into Google. Including the www. and .com
